Wahconah's Calvert Places Second at All-State Meet

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Wahconah Regional High School junior Cooper Calvert placed second in the high jump on Sunday at the MIAA Meet of Champions track and field meet at Fitchburg State University.
 
Calvert cleared 6 feet, 4 inches, to tie for second in the event.
 
Shrewsbury’s Derek Shimer won the all-state title with a jump of 6-6.
 
Mount Greylock junior Nora Lopez Sunday placed third in the javelin on the final day of the meet.
 
Lopez threw 119 feet, 10 inches. The event was won by Alessandra Forgione of Peabody with a throw of 143-6.
 
Mount Greylock, which won a Division 6 State Championship last weekend, closed its season with a 10th-place showing in the girls 4-by-400 meter relay a 24th place finish in the 4-by-800 at the all-state meet.
 
Monument Mountain junior Everett Pacheco on Sunday medaled in the mile, running a time of 4 minutes, 16.89 seconds to place eighth in the state.
 
Taconic’s Elijah Harewood wrapped up his high school career with a 23rd-place finish in the 100 meters.
