Hoosac Valley Wins State Tournament Opener

NEWBURY, Mass. – Jacinta Felix scored five goals and set up three more on Thursday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to a 15-8 win over Triton in the preliminary round of the Division 4 State Tournament.

 

Maryn Cappiello and Emma Meczywor each had a hat trick, and Ashlyn Lesure had two goals and four assists in the win.

 

‘We played really well all over the field today,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “Our energy was great, we moved the ball perfectly in transition and our draw controls were excellent. Kudos to our four seniors for setting the tone this week and today. Beyond proud of how we showed up today. Beyond proud to be their coach.”

 

Kennedy Whitley and Cami Lovato split time in goal for Hoosac Valley, making seven saves apiece.

 

The Hurricanes (14-3) advance to face top-seeded Cohasset in the Round of 32 on a date to be determined.
