Hurricanes Come Back to Beat McCann Tech

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Izabela Tart went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and four RBIs Friday to lead the Hoosac Valley softball team to an 8-5 win over McCann Tech.
 
The Hornets jumped on top early with three in the first and one in the second to take a 4-0 lead.
 
The Hurricanes rallied for three in the fifth and four in top of the sixth to go ahead, 7-4.
 
Genevieve Lagess hit a two-run double, and Tart followed with an RBI double to score Lagess in that rally.
 
Lagess and Gracelyn Wright each had a pair of hits for Hoosac Valley.
 
Wright also went the distance in the circle, striking out four and walking none.
 
Avery Lane and Emma LeMire split the time in the circle for McCann Tech, allowing just two earned runs between them.
 
The Hornets’ offense was led by Shaylee Lawson, who went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, and Paige Rochelo, who homered and drove in four runs.
 
McCann Tech (10-4) waits to learn who it will face in the Western Massachusetts Class C quarter-finals. 
 
Hoosac Valley finishes its regular season 16-2 and waits to play in the Western Mass Class D Tournament.
