CHESHIRE, Mass.— The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has announced a temporary closure of a section of the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail.
Beginning on Monday, May 12, 2025, and continuing through Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the trail will be closed between Nobody’s Road North and Harbor Road in the Town of Cheshire.
The closure will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow for hazard tree removal work.

Hoosac Valley High School Announces Third Quarter Honor Roll
CHESHIRE, Mass. — Hoosac Valley High School has released its honor roll for the third quarter of the 2024-2025 academic year.
The school recognizes students achieving both High Honors and Honors for their academic achievements.
Grade 11: Vanessa Biddy, Kelsey Brown, Daniel Cernik, Kylie Clark, Nyla Dion, Virginia Field, Cash Kolodziej, Nathan Lapinski, lyakxel Marquez Cruz, Olivia Silvernail, Noah Rehill, Evan Richardson, Brady Sherman, Izabela Tart, Anna Thurston, Alexis Warner, and Gracelyn Wright.
Grade 10: Charbel Al Kossaify, McKenzey Grogan, Timothy Harrington, Aurora Jones-Daigneault, Abigail Martel, Alyssa Maselli, Ash Pierce, Reagan Shea, Alexandra Silvernail, and Sophia Sumner.
Grade 9: Arianna Blake, Addison Colvin, Genevieve Lagess, Diego Luna Luna, Andrew Mach, Lukas Mazzeo, Noah Pellerin, Aviana Saimbert, Ryan Strek, Savannah Warner, Emma Zieminski, Katelyn Therrien, and Gianna Witek.
Katherine Goss won a pair of events and placed third in another on Saturday to lead the Mounties’ past the field by more than 100 points in the regional championship meet. click for more
Reflecting national trends, schools in the Berkshires and across Western Massachusetts have experienced a decrease in student-athletes playing football. Previously, Drury fielded a cooperative team with Mount Greylock, while Hoosac Valley and McCann Tech operated independent football programs. click for more
Ashlyn Lesure scored 18 points, and Regan Shea and Emma Meczywor added 15 and 11, respectively, as the Hurricanes successfully defended their 2024 state crown and won the program’s fourth state title in a run that has seen Hoosac Valley go to the state final nine times since 2014. click for more
